Independence Day sequels to be titled ID Forever Part One and Two
Posted 8:10 am on Friday, September 14th, 2012 by Narvin SeegoolamIt’s been a few years since we’ve heard news that there would be another Independence Day film. The main issue that had been evident for quite a while was the budget and still had not reached a compromise with producer Dean Devlin. In a recent interview with Film Starts, Roland Emmerich confirmed that he was back with his old buddy Devlin on two sequels for Independence Day. Emmerich did state that there are still problems between the studio and the actors, but things are coming along slowly, but surely.
Emmerich also goes on to state that he believes both films will be released in 3D. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they’ll be shot in 3D, but one can only hope they don’t use the crappy post-production overlay. Emmerich and Devlin are no stranger to working with each other, as they have worked on countless films together. Classics like Universal Soldier, Stargate, Independence Day, Godzilla and The Patriot just to name a few. Some of the more recent films that Emmerich directed include The Day After Tomorrow and 2012.
I definitely can’t wait to see what becomes of the sequels and what direction they’ll go in. I’m also anxious to see Will Smith and hopefully Jeff Goldblum back on the screen together as well. Also, will Bill Pullman and Vivica A. Fox be back as well? There is no word as of yet on a release date for either film, but the original Independence Day will be re-releasing to theaters in 3D on July 3, 2013.
