Wii U prices at $299 and $349, releases November 18

Today is a big announcement for Nintendo’s next-gen console, the Wii U, with the release date and pricing being revealed. It will be released on November 18, 2012, and will cost $299 (white) and $349 (black). Both versions will have the Wii U console, GamePad, AC adapter for each, the Wii U sensor bar, and a high-speed HDMI cable. So what’s the difference between the white Basic Set and black Deluxe Set? The white version will have 8GB of storage space and the black version will have more storage space (32GB) , additional accessories and Nintendo Land video game.

I’m pretty surprised by how high the pricing is, since Nintendo has been known to keep pricing down. When the Nintendo Wii launched in the US, it retailed for $249.99.

The Wii U will also be getting Bayonetta 2 as an exclusive. Nooooooooo! I was really hoping that it would be multi-platform. Damn you, Nintendo!

50 games will be released during the launch window, starting November and ending in March, 2013.
