Christian Bale takes child with cancer to Disneyland

Christian Bale may have hung up his cape with The Dark Knight Rises but that does not mean he won’t do what he can to help people in need. Earlier this year, Christian Bale visited the victims of the tragic shooting in Aurora, Colorado. A great moment that helped lifted many spirits in recovering town. Recently, the Dark Knight made a special trip out to Boardman, Ohio. There he met the family of 4 year-old Jayden Barber.

Jayden was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndromes leukemia, a disease in the bone marrow that causes it to not make enough normal blood cells. Jayden has been battling cancer for almost all of his life. Recently, his cancer has gone into remission but this would not be the first time. While there is still a chance the cancer may return, Jayden’s family remains optimistic.

Last month, friends and family held a special event for Jayden at a local high school. There Jayden was met by Wolverine, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, Batman and many of his supporters. At the event, he was able to take a ride in Batman’s Maserati Batmobile and even light up his own Bat Signal. Many of the supporters in attendance were part of Facebook group that was trying to get to arrange a meeting with Christian Bale. The group sent out many emails and many phone calls, hoping to get the attention of The Dark Knight Rises star. Thankfully, their voices were heard.

Bale flew out Jayden and his family to Los Angeles for a personally meet and greet. Bale paid for the families hotel rooms and even took them to Disneyland, where he treated them to the infamous Club 33 restaurant. An experience that Jayden’s mom will never forget.

“The entire interaction was like old friends having lunch. Jayden did not get star struck but was well aware of who we were with! They talked movies and Superheros an he was genuinely happy to hear about everything Jayden wanted to tell him. Christian, his wife and daughter are three of the most beautiful people we have ever met! Christian made these arrangements for us personally and ensured we were treated like royalty. I don’t have even one negative thing to say about them. I can tell you that they were just as impressed with Jayden as Jayden was with them :)”

Much like Bale’s visit to Aurora, no media or press was notified of the appearance. This is truly a touching story and from all of us at Nerd Reactor, we wish all the best for Jayden and his family.
