The CW creating Wonder Woman origins series called Amazon
Posted 3:36 pm on Friday, September 7th, 2012 by Narvin SeegoolamHollywood really knows how to beat a dead horse. Seeing as how The CW had a great run with Smallville, they figured “let’s try another.” So they came up with a series called Arrow for the DC superhero, Green Arrow. Now Arrow hasn’t even aired yet and CW decided, “why stop there?” This time, they’re doing it with Wonder Woman.
Now you must be thinking “didn’t NBC try to do a Wonder Woman series last year?” Yes they did, after every other major network turned down the pilot. So what’s the difference now? This will be an origins story.
Unlike past TV incarnations, it will focus on Wonder Woman as a young, budding superhero, rather than a fully formed defender of liberty. (ThinkSmallville, but instead of a “no tights, no flights” rule, this show might have a “no bracelets, no crown” mandate.)
Writing this new series will be veteran Wonder Woman comic book writer, Allan Heinberg. His other works include Gilmore Girls, Grey’s Anatomy and The O.C. There currently isn’t an official title, but the working title is aptly called Amazon. Now the question is, who will play Wonder Woman?
