Here’s an update to an article we posted earlier this month. According to Bleeding Cool, it seems that Disney has been responding to the Rimowa lawsuit by phasing out any connections and ties to the briefcase.

As of right now, Amazon has recently stopped taking pre-orders for the collector’s set and labelled the item as under review. Disney has also removed all set images from its site, and replaced it with a placeholder image. The description on Disney’s page also changed from this:

Immerse yourself in every aspect of Marvel’s Super Heroes with this limited-edition, 10-disc Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One Collection. Complete with interactive glowing Tesseract, this exclusive replica of the iconic S.H.I.E.L.D. briefcase includes stunning Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray presentations of The Avengers; Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor, as well as Blu-ray versions of Iron Man; Iron Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk in exclusive collectible packaging.

to this:

Immerse yourself in every aspect of Marvel’s elite Super Heroes with this limited-edition, 10-disc Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One Collection. Complete with glowing Tesseract, this collectible gift set includes stunning Blu-ray 3D™ and Blu-ray™ presentations of The Avengers; Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor, as well as Blu-ray™ versions of Iron Man; Iron Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk in exclusive collectible packaging.

To make matters even worse for those that ordered the set (ahem… yours truly being one of them), you may soon enough receive information about a cancellation/delay. Users from the blu-ray.com forums have been posting news about cancellations and delays regarding the collector’s set. No further information was provided.

This is bad news for everyone involved, especially us fans that have pre-ordered this pretty killer collector’s set. Unfortunately, at this time we have no idea how long this lawsuit will drag on. If Rimowa is not looking to settle and just looking to kill off a “cheap knock-off”, then kiss that collector’s set goodbye. If Disney feels the set is not worth the millions of dollars to settle, then kiss that collector’s set goodbye. If the judge is in favor of Rimowa, then kiss that collector’s set goodbye. A lot of things can happen, and the set still may be released on time but no one can be really sure. Unfortunately for those involved, their mistake might have cost them their jobs.
