Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy attains a new screenwriter
Posted 7:39 pm on Thursday, August 2nd, 2012 by Alger AlamaAs you may know, this upcoming movie is one of Marvel’s most ambitious projects. More so than the Avengers. A lot of the characters from this movie are from Marvel’s cosmic opera, which are wholly unknown to the general public; perhaps with the exception of The Silver Surfer and Galactus. The team consists of Star Lord, Drax, Groot, Gamora, and Rocket Raccoon. I bet most of you are wondering who the hell these people are. However you needn’t be alarmed, we will go in depth in another article about these characters later on so you’re not going in blind at the theater. We’ve got your back.
In any case, THR has confirmed that the original screenplay written by Nicole Perlman (no relation to Ron Perlman aka Hell Boy) has been cast aside like a redheaded stepchild and will be rewritten. They have embraced a fairly unknown writer by the name of Chris McCoy for the rewrite. Marvel hasn’t released the reason for this change and I won’t question it. Marvel seems to be all about taking risks and it’s paid off fairly well. I’d say they have about “one billion” reasons for us to trust them.
A little bit about McCoy:
“While he has yet to achieve a produced credit, McCoy is considered to have a lot of heat as a writer. The scribe has had three of his specs land on the Black List: Get Back in 2007, Good Looking in 2009 and Good Kids in 2011. His scripts have been praised for their quirky comedic bent.” – Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Whatever the case may be, I’m putting my trust in Marvel. I know they won’t let us down. But if they do, I’ll eat my computer. Just kidding. ಠ_ಠ
