Cloud Atlas trailer: The Wachowski brother…and sister’s next big film with Tom HanksPosted 9:13 am on Friday, July 27th, 2012 by John 'Spartan' Nguyen
What was the last film the Wachowski Brothers…I mean, Wachowski Siblings directed? I would like to think the first Matrix movie, but we all know better. Many were turned off by the Matrix sequels and their last film, Speed Racer. Now the Wachowski Siblings have dropped a new trailer for their next big and ambitious film, Cloud Atlas, which is based on a book that’s considered “unfilmable”. What’s also surprising is that Tim Tykwer (Run Lola Run) is also helping with directing and screenwriting.
The biggest surprise for me is the introduction of Lana Wachowski, formerly Larry Wachowski. Yes, he has completely gone transgender and is now a woman. If you’ve seen Larry in interviews before, you’ll be surprised by the complete transformation, especially since the Wachowskis are rarely seen in the public light.
Movie trailers that are 2-minutes long usually explain and spoil everything for us, but here we have a trailer that’s over 5-minutes long, and I still have no clue what the hell is going on. It features guys from the past, Tom Hanks living in different periods, an Asian chick flying around in a futuristic city, Halle Berry reading love letters, and Agent Smith telling us again about the “natural order” of this world. I loved how the trailer starts out normal, and then all this crazy shit starts to happen. Yeah, my mind is blown.
Cloud Atlas hits theaters on October 26th, 2012. Wow, the first trailer to premiere and it’s just three months away. Here’s hoping the Wachowskis can bring back the magic they did when the first Matrix movie came out.
