New Life of Pi trailer looks visually stunning

When Prometheus was released earlier this year, there was a small trailer that played with it called Life of Pi. Little was known at the time about it with the exception of it being directed by Ang Lee, until now. Fox has released an official trailer and I must say that this looks to be an unforgettable movie.

First off, the movie is based on a 2001 novel of the same name, written by Yann Martel. The story itself is about a kid named Pi, whose family owns a zoo. The family decides to move the zoo to Canada from India. While in transit, the ship encounters a storm and sinks. The trailer showcases these elements as well as the aftermath of the shipwreck that leaves Pi sort of on his own.

The movie is directed by legendary director Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Hulk) and the screenplay was adapted by David Magee (Finding Neverland). The movie has been fully shot in 3D, so moviegoers will not have to put up with that crappy post-production overlay. The trailer itself looks gorgeous, and garnered a reaction much similar to the first time seeing the Avatar trailer. The colors are very vibrant and the story looks to run deep. Check out the trailer for yourself.

Life of Pi hits theaters on November 21, 2012.
