SDCC: Iron Man 3 detailed footage descriptionPosted 11:05 pm on Wednesday, July 18th, 2012 by John 'Spartan' Nguyen
You guys want a detailed description of the Iron Man 3 footage? Well, here it is. Thanks to our fan Mark “The Ultimate Iron Man Fan” for sharing this with us!
By Mark “The Ultimate Iron Man Fan”
The first scene starts with Tony Stark in his lab. He’s being filmed by the camera bot from the first film. He’s talking to his array of suits in his lab. He tells them “good afternoon ladies, welcome to the birthing suite. We’re about to welcome the arrival of our bouncing badass baby brother.” He tells J.A.R.V.I.S. to play some seasonal music, and J.A.R.V.I.S. puts the needle down to play Run-DMC’s Christmas in Hollis.
As Tony starts to feel the Christmas music playing, Stark commands J.A.R.V.I.S. to being the test. Stark strikes a pose, but nothing is happening. He taps his forearm, trying to maybe jump start something, before striking the pose again. From across the room, the Mark VIII glove comes flying off a desk and flies onto his arm, as it attaches the armor manifests and expands over his arm. Tony becomes ecstatic and tells J.A.R.V.I.S. to let it rip. Pieces of armor start flying on to his body, but it’s all going too fast for him. The pieces are zipping every which way, damaging Stark’s lab and forcing him to dodge oncoming pieces of armor. He tells J.A.R.V.I.S. to slow things down to 80% but it’s too late, as his crotch armor hits him in his… crotch. His back armor attaches, hurtling Tony off the platform. He uses his repulsors to keep him hitting the ground, then he starts to hover in the air. As he hovers in the air, the rest of the armor attaches itself, except for his mask. Tony tells the mask, “C’mon sunshine”. As the mask flies towards Tony, it hits part of the desk and is turned upside and still jetting right at him, Tony does a flip in the air, uses his repulsors and attaches the final piece of the Mark VIII armor upside in the air, landing in a 3 point stance.
The next scene involves Tony talking to his ex-head of security Happy Hogan. You find out that Happy quit because people laughed at him when he tells people that he’s Iron Man’s bodyguard. Happy also talks about how Iron Man is busy joining his super friends. He then talks about how his grandmother saw a big robot snake come out of the sky in Manhattan and jumped out the window. Tony tries to reassure him that “everything’s been taken care of.”
Then a montage of pieces of footage is shown with Guy Pearce’s character Aldrich Killian kissing Pepper, our first look at Rebecca Hall as Maya Hansen, Tony on a surgical table (Extremis injection?), Tony sitting in the Mark VIII armor cross-legged on the couch, and Pepper kissing Tony in the Mark VIII.
As the final piece footage plays, Mandarin’s voiceover says, “Some people call me a terrorist. I consider myself a teacher. Lesson number one: Heroes. There is no such thing. As you cry out for mercy, you will be silenced.” Mandarin’s voice sounds menacing, as Ben Kingsley’s accent reminds me a lot of Bruce Lee’s master from Enter the Dragon, just without the bass in his voice. The footage starts with 3 choppers appearing and sending a barrage of missiles to destroy Tony’s Malibu home, crumbling into the sea. Tony manages to get into the Iron Man armor in time, but Pepper gets caught up in the mayhem. All of the Mark suits blow up one by one. You see Tony flung into the water and gets carried down by the undertow. Tony uses the Mark VIII to dodge the falling debris from his collapsing home and rocks from the cliff.
The last scene shows Ben Kingsley’s reveal as none other than Iron Man’s greatest villain The Mandarin, the leader of the Ten Rings terrorist group. He’s shown putting on his iconic robes and then showcases the rings on each hand. The final bit shows Mandarin sitting in his throne, very reminiscent of Conan sitting on his throne.
Kingsley looks very devilish and menacing, like right out of the comic books.
