HBO pulls George Bush beheaded episode of Game of ThronesPosted 9:03 am on Saturday, June 23rd, 2012 by Mike Villarreal
If you haven’t heard by now, Game of Thrones has recently gained some major heat when a fan brought to everyone’s attention that a beheaded George W. Bush makes an appearance in the Season 1 finale. Show creators, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, were first to point it out in the Season 1 DVD commentary but claimed that the image was not a political statement and thought nothing would come of them pointing it out. How wrong they were. The image went viral and now has some Americans up in arms over the depiction of the former president
Both HBO and the show creators have already released public apologies, but as of earlier this month, HBO has completely removed the “Fire and Blood” episode from both HBO Go and iTunes. Sucks if you’re just now getting into the first season of Game of Thrones.
HBO says that the original episode will be digitally altered much like the Mike Tyson tattoo in The Hangover 2 and will not return to many popular streaming services until the episode has been corrected.
If you have the first season of Game of Thrones, hold on to it. It might be a collector’s item someday. There is still no word yet when the episode will return online in its “corrected” form.
