Warner Bros. announces Injustice: Gods Among UsPosted 10:25 am on Thursday, May 31st, 2012 by Michael Revis
In case you’ve been wondering what the guys behind the award-winning MK9 have been up to, here’s your answer. Warner Bros. Interactive announced earlier this morning that the company has been working on a new fighting game centered around the heroes and villains of DC Entertainment, titled Injustice: Gods Among Us, and being developed by none other than NetherRealm Studios.
While this won’t be the first game to feature DC characters in a fighting game environment, this will be the first title devoted exclusively to the iconic figures. Heroes such as Batman, The Flash, and Superman will square off against classic villains like Harley Quinn and Solomon Grundy, with more to be revealed in the future. It will also have an original story that can hopefully be on par with the brilliant portrayal brought on by MK9, which set a new standard for story in fighting games.
As far as details of the game itself goes, not much is known, other than that it may borrow some elements from NRS’s previous work, while adding some newer elements, such as destructible environments. Also, you can punch people through goddamn space as Superman. Can’t get much better than that.
Gamespot has managed to grab the announcement trailer, which you can check out below. Injustice is currently scheduled to come out in 2013 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and WiiU.
