Nerdonomics Ep 0: Anime Cons, Figures and the start of something newPosted 12:44 am on Tuesday, May 29th, 2012 by Chris Del Castillo
California is the place to be during the months of June and July. It started early as Fanime in San Jose came and passed during Memorial Day weekend. After that is E3 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, which happens next week starting June 5, 2012. After E3 is AM2 in Anaheim. After AM2 is Anime Expo at the LACC, which it is going to celebrate its 21st anniversary from June 29th to July 2nd. San Diego Comic-Con ends the 2 big months for conventions/expo.
With that said, we’d like to introduce Nerdonomics. Chris from Nerd Reactor and Reggie from Power Anime plan on talking all things anime, but in a different way. We’ll be having Anime Figure Reviews. Rather than sit there and try to sell you something, we talk about value, collector’s items and the growth in figures.
Back in 2008-2009 when the One Piece Portrait of Pirate figures were released, they cost about $50+, but certain figures nowadays can sell for up to $400. There is more to that to look into, especially since certain companies and figures have been reprinted.
Episode 0 talks about upcoming Anime Cons, preparation and a few other things. As the series progresses Power Anime will be holding contests for free giveaways and more.
Growing up Chris watched a lot of the original Saturday morning cartoons and developed a love for arts and animation. Growing up he tried his hand at animation and eventually script writing, but even more his love of video games, anime and technology grew.
