Marvel Heroes, free-to-play MMO announced for PCPosted 1:57 pm on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012 by Ryan Southard
Perhaps knowing that there would be multitudes of fans craving their next Marvel fix in video game form, Gazillion Games has announced that a free-to-play game in the Marvel universe, Marvel Heroes, will be releasing sometime on PC (after asking, they couldn’t even give me a vague date).
Players will be able to take control of their favorite super hero and customize them with pieces from the various costumes they’ve had over the years. The environments will be randomly generated, and the action seems to be somewhat similar to Diablo/Gauntlet.
As for the heroes, there will be quite a few groups from which to choose: Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and “every corner of the Marvel Universe”–I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what that means. The fact that they’re including Squirrel Girl and Cable should give you a hint as to how far they’ll go off the beaten trail.
The press release states that players will be able to “Build your character using a library of spectacular powers appropriate to your hero.” That says to me that you’ll have to choose which powers you want as you level up. There’s no indication of whether or not you’ll be able to make your hero exactly as they are in the comic books, but I would think that you could.
Some of the areas to be included in the game are the Savage Land, Hell’s Kitchen and Mutant Town.
