Hitman: Absolution touts innovative Sniper Challenge preorder bonus, release date and guns galore!
Posted 4:56 pm on Thursday, May 10th, 2012 by Narvin SeegoolamIt’s been 6 years since the original silent assassin has been seen and now he’s back for vengeance. Square Enix has just announced that the game will get a Fall release on November 20th this year. They have also just released a preorder bonus called Sniper Challenge that can be played starting from May 15th on Xbox and PS3 and August 1st for PC, prior to the game releasing. When you place your preorder with participating retailers, you are given a code to download the game.
Square Enix has stated that the Sniper Challenge is a standalone side story and has no impact to the actual game itself, so you won’t feel like you missed something if you don’t play it. The challenge game is a single mission that is timed and tasks you with eliminating an individual target. Although it sounds simple, judging from the trailer, it looks to be quite the challenge. After completing the mission, you unlock the Silenced Agency Kazo TRG weapon, which will be available to you in the full game.
A cool feature that Square Enix has added, is that the Sniper Challenge will have regional and global online leaderboards. Why you ask? Aside from trying to find out who truly is the best silent assassin in the world, there are plans to have a prize competition for the best of the best. The top North American player will win a trip for 2 to Copenhagen to meet with the dev team and have their own characters in the next Hitman title. I think that’s a great way to generate buzz for the game as well as help boost preorder sales.
Also just announced, is a slew of preorder exclusives from certain retailers that gives players in-game bonuses. Here is the list:
- Preorder Hitman: Absolution from Amazon.com and receive a High Tech Suit that offers a 50% increase in armor as well as a Bartoli Custom Pistol with silencer and scope.
- Best Buy preorders receive the Public Enemy gangster outfit and the Bronson M1928 SMG.
- Walmart preorders get the High Roller tuxedo with Krugermeier 2-2 silenced pistol.
Hitman: Absolution hits stores on November 20th.
