Blizzard introduces Global Play for Diablo 3. This will allow players to take on the Burning Hells’ hordes with friends halfway around the world. Global Play functionality allows players to play games on servers outside their own region with few restrictions of course. Here is a quick breakdown of how this works:
- The Americas – For players in the US, Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia.
- Europe – For players in the European Union, Eastern Europe, Russia, Africa, and Middle Eastern countries such as Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
- Asia – For players in South Korea and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.
Though, they note that characters, items, and friends list do not transfer across regions. So if you are in the U.S. playing in the Americas server and decide to play with someone in Russia in the European server; none of your items, characters, and friends list will transfer. You will need to start everything all over again. So everything is server specific, as it will not follow your Diablo 3 account.
I think this is great news. I have many friends that are overseas and never have a chance to play with them on many games. This is definitely a big plus for Blizzard to add this feature. Another thing I like about it is that there is no fee to have this feature. You can go in and out of the servers anytime you like. There is only 2 weeks left before Burning Hells’ hordes are set loose upon mankind. So prepare your PCs and make the necessary upgrades, then take up arms against the hordes of evil in Diablo 3!
