During CinemaCon, director Shane Black talked about what he wants for Iron Man 3 during Disney’s Marvel Studios presentation. So what can we expect from the next Iron Man film? Here’s a list of of descriptions Black used to describe the movie:

- “Technological thriller”
- “Crisis movie”
- “International war, arms and terror”
- “Put Tony Stark through the wringer”
- Villain will be “frighten in today’s world.”

According to Neonpunch Popular Hong Kong actor Andy Lau (Infernal Affairs, House of Flying Daggers) will be playing Tony Stark’s old friend.

Andy Lau’s character will be an OLD FRIEND OF TONY STARK’S that represents China’s technology sector – and will use China’s armored heroes to HELP Iron Man defeat “The Mandarin” who is seen as a terrorist against both the US and China.

The site also mentions that we won’t be seeing The Mandarin as a character, but he’ll be presented as a terrorist group called The Mandarin. The leader of the Mandarin group will be actor Ben Kingsley (Bloodrayne, The Love Guru), as the group is intent on having a bunch of Iron Men wreak havoc in China and The United States.

Shane Black has previously shown his dislike of using The Mandarin as a bad guy, saying that he’s “racist caricature“. I’m all for updating a bad guy for the modern times, and I think that instead of having Kingsley be the terrorist leader, Andy Lau should receive that honor, if sources are correct.
