The reception for RedLynx’s (a Ubisoft subsidiary studio) new arcade game has been great. How great you ask? Well, good enough to snag the biggest Day One sales in Xbox Live Arcade history so far. Over 100,000 copies were sold in that first day alone for the sequel to 2009’s popular Trials HD arcade game. This was confirmed by the leaderboards recording 120,000 users the first day and almost 180,000 the second day. The game sells for 1200MS Points, which equates to about $15; now multiply that to the amount of copies sold and the game has already made $1.5 million. It’s almost like the Call of Duty of arcade games. The influx of players was so large that RedLynx even tweeted that “We apologize for the leaderboard issues in the past hours” and that “The servers were getting overloaded but Microsoft has put up new hardware.”

So what draws people to this game? Well I can tell you from first-hand experience, the game is just plain fun to play. Not only is it just a physics-based dirt bike racing game, but it’s a game for anyone that suffers from gaming ADD. Just like in Trials HD, the developers have included the same editing tools that they used to create the game; it feels very similar to Forge mode in Halo: Reach. Not only can you use these tools to create new tracks to race on, but you can also create all sorts of mini-games. To be quite honest, you’re almost limitless on what you can create. Another cool feature is that you can browse other users’ creations as well, which include new tracks and mini-games from RedLynx themselves. This game will have a strong community following and much of that proof is from the sales so far.

If you haven’t picked the game up yet, do yourself a favor and get it, it’s well worth it.
