Tekken Tag Tournament 2 DLC characters will be free

While the kerfuffle regarding Capcom’s controversial DLC plans continues to be discussed, Namco Bandai is already working on their plans for their own DLC offerings in the upcoming console release of Tekken Tag Tournament 2. In particular, Katsuhiro Harada confirmed that consumers will not be charged for unlocking any of the DLC characters in the game.
Harada’s reasoning behind this decision is to help preserve the purity of the fighting game scene, a community that has been growing steadily. While he didn’t mention just how characters will be unlocked, the lack of a price to do so is a welcoming sound indeed. Those who pre-order the game will even be able to access some of the locked characters early, but only for a limited time. Actual paid DLC has not been ruled out completely, but will likely be limited to extra costumes and the like.
Namco is also still working on their half of the collaboration with Capcom, Tekken x Street Fighter, however, development is slow, and very few details have made their way to the public. At the very least, players should be glad to know that they’re not mimicking the questionable actions of their partners.
