Marvel and Rockstar to produce Max Payne 3 comic bookPosted 2:20 pm on Tuesday, April 17th, 2012 by Jose Gutierrez III
Rockstar Games has partnered up with Marvel Comics to produce a digital comic series for the upcoming Max Payne 3. The story will be written by Dan Houser, one of the co-founders of Rockstar, and Sam Lake, who wrote the script for the original Max Payne game and its sequel. Pencils and inks will be done by Fernando Blanco, who has done work for both DC and Marvel Comics. He has done cover art for comics like Army of Darkness, Fallen Angel, Manhunter, and Marvel Zombies Supreme. Greg Horn will also do the comic’s cover art.
The series will be a three-issue limited series. It will delve into Max’ background, exploring the events of the first two games, which will lead up to his current situation. It will also show Max during his early years before any of the games were released. The first two games where structured as if it were a graphic novel when it was telling the story, so it makes sense for the comic book to follow suit.
The first issue, “After the Fall” will be released in the next few weeks according to Rockstar, and it will be free via Rockstar Newswire, official Max Payne 3 website, and other comic channels. The series will also be available in limited print edition. No news on the print edition and the pricing.
