Thatgamecompany’s Journey becomes fastest-selling PSN game and co-founder leaves

As a fan of the PSN game Flower, I’m surprised I haven’t played Journey yet, the newest and unique game from Thatgamecompany. Creative Director Jenova Chen has announced that Journey has become the fastest-selling PSN game in North America and Europe.

With Journey, Thatgamecompany received more letters from fans in two weeks than they did with Flower in three years.

For fans of Austin Wintory’s music for Journey, you’ll be happy to know that the soundtrack will be released on PSN and iTunes April 10, 2012.

Time to get off my ass and check this game out, but I do feel that the $15 price tag is a bit too steep for a short game. Decisions, decisions.

In other Journey news, Thatgamecompany co-founder Kellee Santiago leaves the company.

“My hope is that I can take what I’ve learned and use it to support more teams, more projects… and really, hopefully, help in accelerating the growth of video games as a medium,” said Santiago.

“While we want to continue the path of Thatgamecompany, Kellee has found a new direction in her career,” said a statement from Thatgamecompany.

I wonder what she has in store for the video game community. Anyway, best of luck to her future.
