Guild Wars 2 collector’s edition breaks your piggy bank

NCsoft recently allowed the public to show their interest in Guild Wars 2, and with one million players jumping at the chance to play the beta, I don’t think they were disappointed. The game is looking great, and the collector’s edition seems to indicate that 150 of your dollars are going to be accidentally leaping out of your bank account–don’t worry, it’s a perfectly normal occurrence. That $150 will net you what you see below: a custom art frame with an art portfolio containing five art prints, a 10-inch figurine of Rytlock, a 112-page making-of hardback book, a metal collector’s tin, and a best-of soundtrack.

Both the collector’s edition and the digital deluxe ($69.99) version receive some in-game items as well: a mistfire wolf elite skill (summon), Rytlock miniature, a golem banker (allows access to account management from anywhere in the world for five days, Chalice of Glory (unlock pvp rewards and compare your progress to other players), Tome of Influence (a one-time influence boost that’s helpful for unlocking guild vaults, emblems, and other things for your guild).

So, you can shell out some extra cash for those goodies, or you can pay $49.99 for what seems to be the next big thing in online rpg gaming. Pre-orders start April 10th, but we have yet to hear of a specific release date.

this is GONNA RUIN RPG’s, bioware corrupts RPG’sand soon each want in on some cash, buying those 2 items for 69 dollars IS WELL OVER 100 bucks. having a 5 day gurentee on an item just for over 145 (?) bucks doesnt seem like a fair deal, since if the item expires you have to buy it again, sure it offers bennefits of opening inventory and account management anywhere, but is it worth it? 5 days can bite my furry blue arse then, not paying, not staying. guild wars 2 = corrupted by bioware going too far?

Here is the thing. Bioware’s DLC is essential to having a full ME3 single player experience. The prothian is a pretty big deal. Mobile banking will not exactly ruin you if you are unable to have it. More than anything, these are just time saving boosts.

While ME3′s dlc is a super important character.

Also. This is an MMO, not a regular RPG. While an RPG you play once, an MMO is 100+ hours of entertainment. I am sorry but the two instances and games are just not comparable.

Also, sorry but i forgot to mention that almost every major title release has a regular, collectors and digital collectors edition. It isnt bioware, that is all EA.

Blizzard has been doing collectors for years. on MMOs with exclusive items. Maybe noncosmetic boosts are a bit much, but do not forget, there is no monthly fee with this game. So that one sale is all they get. Unless they create an online store. in which case i will not be purchasing/playing this game.

Anet’s online store with Guild Wars 1 was used to purchase things like extra character slots, digital versions of the new expansions, name changes, etc. The same types of things Blizzard does with WoW. GW1′s online didn’t come with release though, it came like a year after the last expansions release.
