Ralph McQuarrie has passed

Ralph McQuarrie has died at the age of 82. He passed away yesterday. The man who was responsible for giving my favorite Sci-Fi character its face, Darth Vader, has died. He worked on many films such as “Star Wars” (original trilogy), “ET”, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”, and many others. This is a sad day for many, indeed. Condolences go to his family.

I just want to say, thanks and you will be missed.

A statement was posted on McQuarrie’s website on the day of his passing:

There’s no doubt in our hearts that centuries from now amazing spaceships will soar, future cities will rise and someone, somewhere will say … that looks like something Ralph McQuarrie painted.

Please visit the Ralph McQuarrie facebook page to offer some respects.
