Assassin’s Creed, Hitman series composer lends talent to Darksiders 2

I have to admit that I’ve been stealthily avoiding Darksiders 2 information. No, it’s not because I don’t want the game ruined for me. It’s because I really don’t dig the main character. He’s just a little too bold for my taste. You take Solid Snake, for example. He’s a badass, but he doesn’t go around flaunting it like he’s strutting on a fashion runway. Well, anyway, the important thing is that Jesper Kyd, who is one of the best composers in video game-dom, is composing for Darksiders 2. So, Darksiders 2, I’ve officially taken notice of your existence and the fact that I now plan on playing you.

Many of you may know Jesper Kyd’s work and not even know it. He’s done MDK2, the Assassin’s Creed series (yes, all four on the consoles), Hitman 1, 2 and Blood Money, and more. You can check out his official page, here.

Jesper Kyd had this to say about composing for the game: “Darksiders 2 is an awesome game and one of the most fun and creatively satisfying projects I have scored. I had a blast working with the team at Vigil.”

Jeremy Robins, the audio director at Vigil Games, had his own nice things to say about Jesper: “He’s an extremely talented composer and an avid gamer, who not only created an amazing soundtrack for Darksiders 2, but intuitively knew how to cater each composition to achieve maximum musical impact for players.”

We have quite a history with Jesper. We’ve covered an event that he attended, along with a smorgasbord of other composers. We’ve also interviewed Jesper about Assassin’s Creed and SyFy’s Resistance series. You should also check out Mr. Kyd’s latest album, Ultimatum, because it’s soul-crushingly good.

You can expect THQ to publish Darksiders 2 on June 26th for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. There’s a Wii U version in the works as well, but there’s no clear indication of if it too will release on that date.
