Guild Wars 2 breaks one million beta registrations in 48 hours

At this point, the hype for Guild Wars 2 is getting to reach maximum levels. How hype is it getting? Enough that over one million people immediately registered for the upcoming closed beta within a scant 48 hours. That’s pretty crazy right there.

NCSoft themselves made the numbers announcement, saying that this results in an astounding 4000 signups a minute at peak times. This includes players from 224 different countries across all seven continents. The company claims that the turnout is a sign that MMORPG fans are itching for something new. It would be nice to see something that isn’t a blatant WoW reskin be successful.

“We built Guild Wars 2 with the notion to bring players together to experience what a true online world experience should be, and we couldn’t be more excited with the reception we’re receiving from gamers wanting to get in and play our game,” said executive producer Mike O’Brien.

The next closed beta test is scheduled to start up at the end of March, with aspects such as the World vs World battles said to be available to try out. In the meantime, you can check out the official website for more information on the game itself.
