SEGA just recently put out a demo for Binary Domain, a third-person shooter on PS3 and Xbox 360 that is essentially Japan’s take on Gears of War. The controls are good, the graphics are good, and the AI partners even seem to be somewhat ahead of the curve. So, why haven’t you tried it yet? Don’t you want to blow away hordes of terminator-like robots that get decimated piece by piece and chunk by chunk? I assure you that the flurry of metal shards that fly about as you shoot these enemies is more satisfying than you would expect. Even cooler, the robots keep coming after you, legless and armless, until you’ve completely obliterated them.

Other than the fantastic depiction of the destruction of robots, this game also has an interesting focus on the squad’s relationships with you. Players can answer questions during small segments in between combat to bond with squad mates. Shooting squad mates, not doing well in a mission, and not performing actions suggested by squad mates may wear away or break a bond with individual squad AI partners. The result of all of this? Your teammates may not take your orders, or their performance may suffer.

Binary Domain is scheduled to be released in North America on February 28th, in Europe on February 24th, and in Australia on February 23rd.
