Dark Horse Comics and Radical Entertainment, the team behind Prototype 2, will be joining forces to release the Prototype digital comic series. It will fill in the story on what happened between Prototype 1 and 2 by telling three original stories beginning February 15, 2012.

The first story is “The Anchor,” with illustrations by Paco Díaz. It follows Alex Mercer, the main hero from Prototype 1. The second story is “The Survivors,” with illustrations by Chris Staggs. This story follows a group of survivors trying to escape New York City, now called NYZ, thanks to the Blacklight virus outbreak. “The Labyrinth” is the third story, with Victor Drujiniu illustrating. It follows our main protagonist from Prototype 2, Sgt. James Heller.

The Prototype digital comics will be available at Dark Horse’s digital site.

Prototype 2, the video game, will be out on April 24, 2012.
