In the LA Area? Then You Can Learn to Fight Like a Jedi Master from Star Wars Choreographer Nick Gillard
Posted 10:05 am on Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 by John "Spartan" NguyenWant to perfect the Jedi lightsaber form and moves? Star Wars stunt coordinator and sword master Nick Gillard will be teaching a lightsaber master class at Tim Weske’s Swordplay in Los Angeles on January 21 and 22, 2012. Gillard is the lightsaber choreographer for the Star Wars prequels and has shaped awesome lightsaber duels like Darth Maul vs. Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Phantom Menace and Anakin Skywalker vs. Obi-Wan Kenobi in Revenge of the Sith.
In this master class, Gillard will teach a complicated set from Revenge of the Sith. It will consist of all the Jedi moves while detailing the rules of a Jedi fight. The class will be two hours long and will have a Q&A session, picture opportunities and autographs.
When showing up, where something comfortable and maneuverable. You can even dress up like a jedi if you want. Shinais, AKA kendo sticks, are highly recommended. Bringing your own lightsabers is also good, but a word of caution, the commercial lightsaber replicas are often fragile. A bamboo with a gaffer tape will also do.
Registration is open, but space is limited for each class.
