Last year, 1UP.com posted an article called Worst Cosplay Ever. You have one side that is against mistreatment of cosplayers, and others who say it’s all fair game if you’re in the public eye (take PeopleofWalmart.com for example). It’s a tough subject to tackle, because I feel that cosplayers should be able to do what they want without having to be ridiculed, but then again, they’re out there to show off their outfits for others to see. We’ve covered this topic about cyber bullying before, when Men’s Fitness had an article poking fun of overweight cosplayers (I thought it was done in poor taste because it’s an outlet about self-improvement).

Being a cosplayer myself, you have to expect that your picture will be taken and put on the web for all to see and comment, good or bad. I cosplay because I like to dress up as my favorite characters from animes, movies, comic books and/or video games and share my excitement with fans at conventions. Of course it’s always good to see yourself being talked about in forums and sites in a good way. I’d also be fine with sites poking fun of my outfits. So why is 1UP on my radar?

The problem I have with 1UP, is how they choose their worst cosplay. Most of the cosplays aren’t even bad and you can tell that the cosplayers took the time to make the outfits (most of them anyway). They just chose them because the person is either overweight or is showing off too much skin. Plus, how can you diss Lando like that? He is pimp.

1UP is a site about gaming, but besides gaming, they also promote nerd culture like cosplay and conventions. To have a site that promotes cosplay while also poking fun of them is like a stab in the back.

Now if you want to do an article about worst cosplays ever, you have to include these two guys below.
