Lionsgate Buys Rights to Dead Island… Great…

Lionsgate announced today that they have secured the rights to Deep Silver’s smash hit, Dead Island, and will begin working on development. So far there is no word yet on writers or a director, but Sean Daniel, who produced The Mummy, will be producer on this project. Lionsgate has stated that Dead Island is “an innovation of the zombie genre because of its focus on human emotion, family ties and non-linear storytelling.” When the original game trailer released, video game fans and horror fans alike flocked to it, with the trailer garnering millions of views in a short time. It’s going to be interesting to see what they come up with. Who will direct and what actors will be chosen? Will they keep a storyline close to the game? Well, it is Hollywood, so there will probably be some outrageous story that has nothing to do with the core of it. Yes, I’m looking at you Battleship the Movie, with your stupid aliens.
