Review: The Steelseries Scope
Steelseries has always been known for one simple objective, creating gear to enhance the gaming experience for both casual and professional gamers. The Steelseries Scope is one of the newest product collaborations with GUNNAR that had me a little skeptical as to why glasses were so important for gaming. The Scope offers not only enhancement but also protection. Spending up to 10 hours a day in front of a computer screen is a part of my daily routine that leaves my eyes red and exhausted. The Scope takes a little bit of getting used to but once I began to use these habitually I noticed a big change after long sessions of gaming. A few key factors make these glasses different from your average shades. The result is something I had not expected.
The curved lens shape limits air currents near the eyes, creating a higher humidity environment. This increased moisture helps reduce dry eyes and prevent irritation..
The proprietary lens material offers the clearest image possible and is comprised of lightweight materials for long-haul ergonomics.
(On a side note, RX versions of the lenses are also available).
The Color Tint:
The AMBeR lens tint is designed to improve overall contrast and comfort by filtering out harsh fluorescent light and reducing high-intensity blue light. The result helps maintain proper concentration for long periods of gaming.
The lens coatings are designed to reduce glare and protect the lens. It includes an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare and reflections, and a hard coat that reduces environmental damage and minimizes damage.
How it Fits:
The frame is made of lightweight yet durable materials. They rest gently on your ears and nose, and do not get in the way of most headsets.
Tagged at $99.99, it may seem a little steep for glasses, but a small price to pay for protecting your vision.
The Steelseries scope combines style, comfort, protection, and enhancement. Everything you would expect from a high quality gaming product. Although not a necessity to improve your gaming, they have their set role. I highly recommend these to anybody suffering from ocular exhaustion either at work or at home.
