A Night of Persona News: P4 VITA, P4 Fighting Game and P5
Posted 12:13 pm on Wednesday, August 31st, 2011 by Chris Del CastilloAtlus is known for giving fans exactly what they want, but normally they do it in very small doses at a time. A few months ago, it was announced that Persona 4 would be getting an anime series in Japan next season and that was great news. Today, Famitsu made so many fans happy with 3 new pieces of information surrounding Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei Persona Series that include:
Persona 4 The Golden: A port of Persona 4 that was originally on the PS2. This new version will have more than 1.5x the voice acting in the PS2 version of the game, a new playable character and add-ons (fan requested). This is an upgraded version, with still more to be announced goodies. So far more anime cutscenes and a new intro have been announced. Originally this was going to be ported to the PSP, but because of the lack of memory in the PSP, they didn’t want to downgrade the maps like they did in Persona 3 Portable. The VITA is a good way for them to get everything they wanted, plus with the VITA, they could have a network mode to have other players interact in game.
A first for Atlus, they will be releasing a Persona fighting game titled Persona 4 The Ultimate Midnight Combat in Mayonaka Arena. It’s being developed by Arc System Works (the team behind the BlazBlue series, Guilty Gear Series and Sengoku Basara X) and will include characters from Persona 4. From the looks of it, characters from Persona 3 will also be included such as Aegis (who is pictured). Maybe we will see characters from previous SMT titles and maybe even other Shin Megami Tensei series like Raidou Kuzunoha. That’d be cool.
Persona 4 The Ultimate Midnight Combat in Mayonaka Arena is being made for Arcades, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and will release around summer 2012.
And finally, it was announced that Persona 5 will be made, and while the game will be in development for awhile, the team behind Persona 3 and Persona 4 will be working on the game. Katsura Hashino will return as director, Shoji Meguro as composer, and Shigenori Soejima as character designer, so it will be familiar while still being a whole new game.
No Details on the game have been released yet.
