Let’s face it, Anime Expo is a juggernaut and the biggest anime convention in the nation. With that said, it’s nice to see that first year anime con AM2 did really well. How well you say? For a first year con, it had over 8,000 unique attendees. To put it in perspective, other anime conventions that start out on its first year average around 1,000 attendees. It being a free con didn’t hurt either. The con ended with a bang with Scandal, a popular girl J-rock band, which had the ballroom packed with fans.

There’s always room for improvements. So what can AM2 do to be better? Please please do not put it on the same weekend as Anime Expo. Also, please don’t use an area with a lot of empty space. The exhibit hall, dance room, and arcade rooms were big for the amount of attendees that came, therefore making it look empty.

If things go at an upward trend, like most anime cons, we’ll truly have another cool anime convention to attend to that’s local to us. Here’s wishing the best for AM2 to get bigger and better, especially at the Anaheim Convention Center, because it’s the perfect place for fans and cosplayers to gather and hangout without having to walk all over downtown ::cough:: AX ::cough::.
