3 New Character Images Revealed for Pixar’s Brave

We’re getting more things for Pixar’s Brave now that we have 3 new characters revealed for Pixar’s next movie after Cars 2. The teaser poster debuted yesterday. Today we have images of the 3 characters that will be in the movie, along with Merida, the main character. The image of Merida shows off her fiery, red hair (see above). She will be voiced by Kelly Macdonald and will be the first Pixar movie to star a female in the leading role, as well as their first princess.

Yep, that’s right, she’s the first to be a female lead in a Pixar movie. Toy Story had Buzz and Woody, Finding Nemo had Nemo, Cars had Lightning and Mater, Monsters Inc had Billy Crystal and John Goodman, A Bug’s Life starred Flik, Incredibles starred Mr. Incredible, Ratatouille starred Remy, WALL-E starred WALL-E, and Up starred Mr. Fredricksen and Russell. That’s a lot of dudes.

As for the 3 other characters in Brave, we have Queen Elinor played by Emma Thompson, Wise Woman played by Julie Walters, who reminds me of Yubaba in Spirited Away, and Lord Macintosh played by Craig Ferguson, who looks just like Mel Gibson in Braveheart.

I’m looking forward to this, since the Cars series was my least favorite Pixar project.

Pixar’s Brave hits theaters on June 22, 2012.
