Stereoscopic 3D on the Xbox 360 – At E3!?
Posted 11:19 am on Monday, May 23rd, 2011 by Steve AhmadFull HDMI 1.4 stereoscopic 3D in double 1280X1470 (per eyeball) 720p - hallelujah! EuroGamer.net is reporting that in a recent talk to someone close with the Xbox 360 development team the following was said:
“They’d be mad not to do it, is all I can say…The machine is not only very capable, it’s more capable than the PlayStation 3 of doing stereo…E3 is coming up”
The source also added:
“The capability is there. The question is whether or not the consumer demand is there. That’s the unanswered question. We’re not a consumer electronics company that’s trying to sell 3DTVs, so we have the benefit of waiting until the market responds. We’re going to take probably more of a pull than a push approach.”
Could this be the grand slam that Microsoft has been looking for to creatively make a huge advance forward against its primary rival, SONY? Aaron Greenbgerg of Microsofts’s product management told VG24/7 last year “we’re a fully 3D-capable console today”. Xbox 360 games like Crytek’s Crysis 2, and Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops run on 3D with such “stereoscopic 3D” banners on packages and prints. No word from Microsoft on these rumors.
E3 is June 7-9, 2011 at the Los Angeles convention center, California. Oh, we’ll be there with breaking news, and live updates. Stay glued to your computer chair!
