Geeky Show ‘Breaking In’ Pilot Premieres Tonight Starring Christian Slater

Fox has a new show called Breaking In starring Christian Slater as Oz, the guy in charge of a high-tech security firm. The pilot episode premieres tonight on Fox at 9:30/8:30c. The show is pretty geeky, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the security firm, Contra Security, is an homage to the Konami Nintendo video game.

How geeky is the show? Well for one thing, the team behind the show have made films for geeks. Adam F. Goldberg, executive producer, has worked as a screenwriter for Fanboys, a comedy about a group of friends traveling to Lucas Ranch to be the first to watch The Phantom Menace. The director of the show, Seth Gordon, directed The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, a documentary about a teacher trying to beat the Donkey Kong record.

Nerd Reactor had a chance to chat with the cast from Breaking In at WonderCon, including Christian Slater, Odette Annable, Bret Harrison, and Alphonso McAuley. Christian Slater talked about an episode they filmed where they had to protect the Goonies 2 from being stolen at Comic-Con from geeks. Stay tuned for those interviews.

I like Christian Slater and hope this show does good. But having a show premiere in April on Fox doesn’t sound too promising.
