Hideo Kojima Gets Promoted as Konami Vice President

Konami Digital Entertainment has announced that Hideo Kojima has been promoted to Vice President. Woohoo! His new position will begin April 1 (let’s hope it’s not a cruel April Fools joke).

Producer Shinji Enomoto (Pro Evolution Soccer) has been promoted to a vice president role and Mineaki Yoshiba, Yasuyuki Yamaji and Kazuyuki Kisohara have been named as directors. Kazuhiko Nakanishi will be the new standing corporate auditor. Kazuhiko Uehara, who is the current corporate officer, will be the CEO of Hudson Soft, replacing Michihiro Ishizuka.

That’s a lot of Japanese names (I always get dizzy looking at them in bunches, especially playing the Yakuza series).

This is really good news for Kojima, as I hope he’ll turn the company around and make more Zone of the Enders game and a new Policenauts game.

Last month’s Konami news wasn’t good, since it reported sales during the first 9 months of the 2010 fiscal years were flat with profits dropping. Konami said that it “roughly [met] their earnings forecast, despite the postponement of several titles.”
