Rumor: God of War 4 in Development, and It’s Online?

Note: not an official image

A freelance animator who worked under Motion Logic Studio did a “Game Cinematic Test” for God of War 4 according to his Linkedin resume. The animating was done between May and July of 2010, which is just after God of War 3’s March 16th, 2010 release date. Also, according to Motion Logic Studio’s website, they began work on an unannounced AAA game on May 1st, which was undoubtedly the same project, God of War 4.

Here’s a picture of that animator’s resume and profile:

As for God of War 4 having online components, that bit of information comes from a job posting put up by SCEA Santa Monica on Gamasutra. The listing for a Programmer/Engineer has the following information:

• Designing and implementing systems and tools to support networking needs (such as in-game communication, client-server, match-making, leaderboards)
• Help support existing systems
• Writing clear, maintainable, portable, and highly functional code
• Profiling and performance tuning of code and systems to remove bottlenecks
• As needed work on tools and technology tasks to support specific project requirements
• Testing and documenting of the code you write

However, it is important to note that this job listing could be for another project that isn’t in the God of War series. It’s still interesting to see that Santa Monica studio is probably doing something involving match-making. Who knows, maybe they’re implementing an online co-op mode for God of War 4.
