Team Ninja Says Bayonetta Is Old News

What’d you say about my lollipop-sucking woman? Oh no you didn’t! That’s what Team Ninja producer, Yosuke Hayashi, said about Bayonetta. At least he referred to their games too as old by mentioning Ninja Gaiden 2.

“I think Ninja Gaiden 2 is already outdated,” Hayashi explained. “That’s why we are making Ninja Gaiden 3 from scratch.”

“Bayonetta has some good stuff but Bayonetta is old, game design wise, already.”

Team Ninja isn’t focusing on difficulty levels any more. I think this might be change for the better, since to me, Ninja Gaiden 2 was hard in a cheap way.

“Difficulty level is not the main element we are focusing on,” Hayashi explained. “The focus we have is that a new Ryu Hayabusa is the main character for Ninja Gaiden 3. Also, we are aiming to be the number one 3D action game. If we can do that we are fine not focusing on difficulty level. We don’t care. But to prevent misunderstanding, Ninja Gaiden fans will still really love it. That is our responsibility. We make sure the fans of the series are satisfied by our game.”

It sounds to me like they’re making Ninja Gaiden 3 an action game that may or may not be as difficult as the past games, but will be the most fun action game on the market. Good luck on that one. They have ex-Team Ninja developer Tomonobu Itagaki’s “Devil’s Third” game, as well as anything that Platinum Games (Bayonetta, Vanquish) comes out with to contend with. They will have to prove that they can be successful even without Itagaki as their leader.
