Early Bioshock Infinite Footage Shows Cool Hook-Sliding Gameplay at PAX East

It really doesn’t matter whether or not you’ve played the previous Bioshock games. Bioshock Infinite is a major force to be reckoned with. it’s an FPS with a strong cinematic touch, a world filled with interesting extreme politics that criticize our own real world, and some interesting gameplay to boot.

The gameplay on display in this video gives us an early look at the game, before all of the fancy textures, lighting etc. are added. I like the idea of the character being able to ride a rail via a hook, and then jump off and transition to other rails. I can imagine some really cool fights happening based on this mechanic. Irrational Games has a hit on their hands, it’s just that we’re going to have to wait a long while to experience it.

Bioshock Infinite currently has no release date, but is believed to be published in 2012 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Here’s that early footage from PAX East:

For anyone who missed it, here’s a 10-minute look at amazing gameplay footage of Bioshock Infinite from 2010. It’s so good it’s definitely worth even a second and third watch. It’s also very rare (and cool) to be able to see what games look like in their early states:
