id Software’s Rage Gets Its Own Comic Book

Bethesda Softworks and Dark Horse Comics have teamed up to create a three-issue comic book based on id Software’s Rage game. The game is a first-person shooter set on an expansive world where humanity is trying to rebuild itself on a post-apocalyptic setting against bandits and mutants (This does not remind me of Fallout 3 at all).

The original miniseries will be written by Arvid Nelsion, creator of Rex Mundi. The comic cover was done by Glenn Fabry, known for his work in Hellblazer and Preacher (which hopefully is turning into a Hollywood movie soon). The story follows a scientist as she learns the truth of Authority, a global military dictatorship that controls the wastelands after an asteroid has wiped out most of humanity. Those that survived live underneath the ground using life-sustaining Arks.

id Software is the team behind Doom and Quake, so Rage is definitely a game to look out for. Let’s see if they can create something so amazing that people won’t even think of Fallout 3 when being played.

The Rage comic book miniseries will be available June 22, 2011 in North America and UK. Rage (video game) will be released on September 13, 2011 for PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Mac.
