Get Early Beta Access for Socom 4: U.S. Navy Seals

Socom is ready to throw down against all of those other action games you’re playing online; but will it be good enough to make you want to plunk down $60? Here to help you make up your mind is the Socom 4: U.S. Navy Seals multiplayer beta.

It has just been announced that Socom 4: U.S. Navy Seals will have a “Bomb Squad” mode. In this mode, one member of the bomb squad will have extra armor, an automatic shotgun, and a grenade launcher. He is the one who is charged with defusing the bombs set around the map, so that extra armor’s going to come in handy.

The beta will have two maps available, “Port Authority”, and “Assault & Battery”. Each of the four modes, Suppression, Last Defense, Uplink, and Bomb Squad will be playable in either classic, or standard versions.

Here are the details from Sony concerning access to the beta:

  • On March 15th, a private beta goes live. We’ll be contacting eligible players soon.
  • Beginning March 22nd, PlayStation Plus members will gain access to the beta.
  • On March 29th, anyone with a beta code included with Killzone 3 gains entry.
  • Starting April 5th, the beta will be freely downloadable to anyone via PlayStation Network.

The beta will be ending on April 13th, giving those who have late access a good 8 days to get a good feel for the game.

Socom 4: U.S. Navy Seals will then be released at retail on April 19th.
