Japan Gets ‘Space Battleship Yamato’, Hollywood Plans Their Own with ‘Star Blazers’Posted 10:43 am on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011 by John 'Spartan' Nguyen
Star Blazers is the name of the American version of the Japanese anime series Space Battleship Yamato. December of 2010, Japan had their own live-action Space Battleship Yamato film and it was a huge success. Now it looks like Hollywood wants in on that success by having an American version instead of just trying to import the Japanese version. They do it all the time like The Ring, The Grudge, and etc.
Skydance Productions announced that it has plans on bringing Star Blazers to the big screen and has recently added Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects, Valkyrie) to write the screenplay.
Space Battleship Yamato deals with the crew on a journey to save Earth by traveling across the universe to retrieve the Cosmo DNA, a machine that can help stop the deadly radioactive pollution caused by the Gamilons.
