Celebrate Zelda’s 25th AnniversaryPosted 9:15 pm on Monday, February 21st, 2011 by Ryan Southard
Today The Legend of Zelda series celebrates its 25th anniversary. What better way could we celebrate Zelda than to play it and appreciate how good its been for all these years; but wait, before you do that, why don’t we take a look at some of the more amusing things from Zelda’s past?
Zelda commercials were so awesome. Maybe it was Nintendo, maybe it was just the 80s and early 90s being cheese-tastic, but I want more of this:
This Zelda commerical showed that white people do have potential as rap stars:
Why is Link dancing? When did rap reach Hyrule? Who cares!? Japan, we love you.
Then there’s Tingle. Oh, you haven’t heard of him? He’s the 35 year old elf who likes forest faeries, and dresses up in green tights. Then there’s that name, “Tingle”. Well, consider me confused then, because this next commercial is for a game in which Tingle can woo five different females. Whatever, it’s Japan; no explanation needed:
So far I don’t think Nintendo’s done anything to celebrate Zelda turning 25, but hopefully they’ll make it a year-long kind of thing and we’ll see some special promotions. I’m going to celebrate by playing some old-school Zelda games. What are you guys gonna do?
