Stephen King’s ‘The Stand’ Part Deux1.5

It’s been a long time coming, but finally Stephen King is making it back into the movie theaters, and in a big way. The Dark Tower, Stephen King’s opus to his writing style, is the science fiction, horror, and fantasy compilation of his literary career.  The story has attracted Ron Howard to direct a trilogy film series, and an ongoing television series. Ron Howard is also expected to film the first season of the show.

Because of the buzz of the new project being undertaken, Warner Bros. and CBS Films are partnering up to tackle the immense story of The Stand. This would not be the first time that this story has been attempted on the big screen. The story was published in 1978, and has seen a television miniseries, and attempted film adaptations from George A. Romero.

In lieu of the never ending demand of apocalyptic films, advancement in computer generated special affects, and the genre’s mass popularity on television with the hit AMC series, The Walking Dead, it is exciting to see how well the studios will recreate both The Dark Tower, and The Stand.
