Disney Plans for Pirates of the Caribbrean 5 & 6 Back-to-Back.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides hasn’t even hit theaters yet and Disney is already planning to shoot Pirates 5 & 6 back-to-back. HitFix has reported that Disney has been telling the cast and crew to set some time available for the future to prepare for the inevitable sequels. This is one of their most prized franchises that’s giving them the big bucks, so of course it would make sense for Disney to milk the series for all it’s worth. I have no problem in this, if it’s done right.

The problem I have with the movies was that they couldn’t make Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End a standalone movie. They just had to add a cliffhanger. I’m fine with cliffhangers as long as the main story is resolved. The Lord of the Rings trilogy did a good job of this.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will be out on May 20, 2011.
