Update: Step Aside John Williams, Hans Zimmer Is Doing Superman

Update: The Hollywood Reporter talked to Hans Zimmer and this is what he had to say about the whole Superman situation:

You know, it’s like some dirty quote taken out of context. Let’s just be absolutely straight here: I have never in my life met Zack Snyder. I think I need to give him a ring. But here’s the thing: No Ronni [Chasen]. Suddenly all sorts of stuff starts flowing around with no warning.

And there you have it.

Sadly, we will not be hearing the classic Superman theme from John Williams. The score for Zack Snyder’s Superman will be composed by the Hans himself, Hans Zimmer. He composed the score for Christopher Nolan’s Batman films, so it’s no surprise that he’s scoring Superman, which is being produced by Christopher Nolan. But before that, he’ll have to score the sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean, Sherlock Holmes, Kung-Fu Panda, and then Superman.

As good as Hans Zimmer is, he can never truly create an iconic and memorable theme for me. Go ahead and hum Danny Elfman’s Batman theme and then Zimmer’s Batman. If Zimmer can come up with something even better than Superman: The Animated Series, I’ll be surprised.
