Last night was the launch party to end all launch parties, and Nerd Reactor was invited. Activision knows how to throw an event and it’s no surprise really, since they can probably do anything with the amount of money they have made off of the Call of Duty franchise. The event honored the six branches of the armed forces and was held in a hangar in Santa Monica Airport. Zach Braff hosted and Metallica performed for the event that was all about the charity that helps soldiers transition to civilian life by raising $1 million. Now if only we can get a charity for nerds to transition to regular life. Metallica was able to perform for a good hour with a mosh pit forming and broken bottles all over the floor (that’s what happens when free drinks are involved).
We covered the “black” carpet before the event with interviews from Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes, Rocky Balboa), Nikki Sixx (Motley Crue), Hoobastank, Common (Wanted, Smokin’ Aces), Matt Lanter (90210), Bonnie-Jill Laflin (Hot scout for the Lakers), Metallica fans and more. Let’s say the interview with Milo did not go as planned, but we’ll have a video of that soon.
Celebrities in attendance were Kobe Bryant, who flew in a helicopter with security guards taller than him, Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Audrina Patridge (The Hills) with boyfriend Corey Bohan, Dave Annable (Brothers and Sisters), Emmanuelle Chriqui (the hotness from Entourage), Ethan Embry (Can’t Hardly Wait), Jack Osbourne, Jimmy Kimmel, Sara Paxton (Superhero Movie), Shaun White, Taylor Momsen (Gossip Girl), Zachary Levi (Chuck) and more.
Looks like we need more video game celebs… Hideo Kojima, where you at? Anyway, Call of Duty: Black Ops comes out next week on November 9th for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
