Video Games Coming Out Today: My Fable Uses the Force and Lays the Smackdown on the Undead

Today’s a big day for video game launches, well not as big as let’s say Halo: Reach or the soon-to-be-released COD: Black Ops, but still good enough to start the video game holiday season. What to get, what to get?

Fable III comes out and is getting reviews rounding up in the low 80s according to Metacritic. Not bad, but also not good for a game that is always hyped up to be the end all for video games, thanks to Peter Molyneux overhyping the game (he even apologized for it).

Another anticipated game is Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. After the successful first Force Unleashed, it’s only inevitable that a sequel gets made. So far, reviews look like its slamming the game for not living up to the quality presentation and story of the first.

Here’s a game that, no matter how hard you try to make it suck, it’s still going to be good, Rock Band 3. Let’s face it, rocking out is always fun, no matter how crappy you play. But the good thing is that Rock Band 3 is getting stellar reviews. The game let’s you use real guitars and adds the power of the keyboard! Now you can be rocking it like JJ Abrams in Cool Guys Don’t Look At Explosions.

The one that I think almost everyone’s looking out for is Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare DLC, since everyone loves westerns and zombies. This little downloadable content can give Dead Rising 2, a full game I might add, a run for their money.

The rest of the games available today include The Sims 3 for the consoles, with the new Late Night Expansion Pack for PCs and Macs, Tony Hawk: Shred (the successor to Tony Hawk: Ride), and WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011. Let’s just say it’s good to be a gamer, except for the whole gaming court case that’s going to be heard by the Supreme Court on November 2 if we lose.
