‘Ultramarines’, a Warhammer 40,000 Movie or a Gamers Wet Dream?!

I have never heard of the Warhammer games franchise until I saw this cool trailer (after the jump!) of the upcoming DVD film release. The first thing that came to my mind was, “Where the hell is Blizzard or Microsoft?” (alluding to the StarCraft or Halo film). After getting over about how I felt, to my amazement, this film called ULTRAMARINES looks pretty sweet. Empire does a pretty good job in bringing the “noobs” into the light about what this is all about.

“For those who don’t know their Eldar Harlequins from their greater daemons of Nurgle, Warhammer 40k is set in the titular year some time hence, where humanity has conquered the stars. It’s not your average space adventure though – this is the kind of future that would have had Gene Roddenberry crying for his mother. 40k features a darkly gothic sci-fi universe populated with technologically advanced versions of classic fantasy races such as the orks and the Eldar (elves).”

It is every gamer’s wet dream. Cinematics are always a huge bonus to any game played and this film sums up an awesome game franchise in a cool way. John Hurt (who played the evil dictator in V for Vendetta), Sean Pertwee (EquilibriumEvent Horizon, Mutant Chronicles and voice of Colonel Radec in KillZone2), and Terence Stamp (Superman 2 General Zod) are just a few big name actors who were the voice overs for the film.

Check it out!
