3DS Won’t Have as Much Battery Life as DS

The 3Ds is coming out next year for all regions and will offer so many upgrades, compared to the DS and DSi. It includes 3D picture taking with its 2 cameras, 3D gameplay, wireless game support (even when system is on standby mode) and still give you the ability to use your original DS games. But with great hardware power comes great responsibility, or in this case, power usage.

“As for the battery, it is inevitable that Nintendo 3DS will be a device which requires more frequent recharging than Nintendo DS” Iwata said during a recent Q&A session with investors. “This is why we are going to include the cradle, which is a dedicated battery charger. Perhaps we may need to dispatch to our consumers a message, something like, ‘Please place your Nintendo 3DS on the cradle as soon as you return home with it’.”

This means that you won’t be getting as much usage as you were for the DS or DSi, but since the 3DS is running so much power it’s to be expected. Hopefully the battery life won’t be too bad. Final specs for the 3DS should be revealed soon so let’s hope for a nice battery life for this.
